Established in 2003, the Center for American Nurses offers tools, services and strategies designed to make nurses their own best advocates in their practice environments. Through research, continuing education and knowledge sharing among today’s nursing community, the Center offers powerful resources to nurses seeking to overcome workforce challenges and realize opportunities.

The Center for American Nurses equips nurses with the means to be their own best advocates in the workplace. The Center’s tools, services and strategies support nurses at all levels of experience who are striving to:

  • Improve their practice environments
  • Meet their personal and professional goals
  • Promote excellence in patient care.

Products offered to TNA and Center members:

  • Nurses First is the official journal of the Center for American Nurses and the first national publication dedicated to nurse workforce advocacy issues and strategies. This bi-monthly publication aims to support nurses in advocating for themselves, their profession, and their patients. Topics include information on  physician and nurse conflict, financial literacy for nurses, legal basics for nursing practice, self-advocacy, and more!  FREE access for Tri-Level ANA /TNA /District members!

  • The Center has launched LEGAL BASICS FOR NURSES -- an online library of legal resources for nurses.  This library includes a number of articles written by nurse attorneys addressing a range of questions about the legal system and its relationship to nursing practice. A webinar series, Centered on the Nurse, offers content on nursing aspects of civil, criminal, administrative and employment law. Available at reduced rates for members!
