Texans throughout the coast were impacted by the devastation brought by Hurricane Harvey, and the nurses who continued to care for their communities throughout the storm were no exception.

Among them were the staff of Christus Dubuis Hospital of Beaumont, where Hurricane Harvey unleashed over 49 inches of rain.

“The rain was relentless day after day and night after night,” Christina Warlick, MSN, RN, CCM, Director of Director of Nursing at Christus Dubuis Hospital of Beaumont, told TNA. “Those living close to the facility were gracious and caring enough to cover for those who were not able to make it physically due to the surrounding areas flooding. Everyone truly came together to take care of our patients and each other.”

Some of the hospital’s staff were among the Beaumont residents rescued from rising floodwaters. Many lost their homes and all belongings, Warlick said, including a necessity for work: scrubs.

As people from around the country sought ways to help, Barry Rothschild, President and CEO of Med Couture, decided to do his part by replacing scrubs for some of his fellow Texans. The Dallas based fashion-forward scrub manufacturer sent 92 sets of scrubs to Christus Dubuis Hospital of Beaumont.

“The aftermath of Hurricane Harvey was devastating to the men and women of CHRISTUS Dubuis Hospital," Rothschild said. “We appreciate their deep dedication, and wanted to provide a small token to show our support."

Warlick said the donation was “a beam of light in a dark tunnel for most of our staff. They certainly are appreciated!”
