Connect and Improve Your Career

We can help TNA members and other nurses with critical questions that pose implications for their practice, patient safety, or professional duties.

How TNA Helps You

TNA's Practice Department is here to help members by providing:

Practicing in Texas: The Texas Board of Nursing

All nurses who practice in Texas are governed by the Texas Nursing Practice Act (Chapter 301 of the Texas Occupations Code) and must be licensed in good standing with the Texas Board of Nursing (BON). BON is responsible for protecting the public, while TNA focuses on advocating for and protecting nurses' rights, as Texas's largest nursing professional association.

BON's website will help you apply for, verify, or renew your license. It is also an excellent resource for practice guidelines, required state forms, and help with discipline and complaint issues, and more.

Additional links nurses should know are here.

Take a look at this handy chart, which explains the differences between TNA and BON.
