COVID-19 has changed nursing practice, for better or worse. We've seen a lot of transformation in what nurses are doing and how they are doing it. But nurses need to take the reins and start shaping that transformation to create their vision of the future for nursing practice. This hackathon will provide you with the tools to drive innovation through interprofessional teams focused on finding solutions to a critical problem.

Whether you want to tackle emerging workforce needs, the new demands of interprofessional teams, novel applications of technology, or improving the work experience of caregivers, this event will help you find creative solutions and take those skills back to your workplaces.

Before you register your interprofessional team (maximum 5 members), consider: What needs to be overhauled? What needs to be reformed? What should be taken back to the drawing board? What challenges do you face? What is the future we want? What is the nurse's role in building this future?

Hackathon teams should come prepared with a challenge or problem statement and will collaborate with their colleagues to create innovative solutions. The Hackathon will wrap up with each team sharing their problem statement and their top 2-3 ideas. The goal of this event is to employ nurse-led innovation in disrupting old patterns; health care and health care professionals must evolve to meet the challenges of tomorrow.

Hackathons are often run over 2-3 days and can be used to solve vexing problems, build cultures of innovation and increase teamwork and collaboration. This condensed, three-hour, experiential event is intended to bring diverse groups together to problem-solve while at the same time learning how a hackathon works.

Learning Objectives

As a result of participating in the event, participants will:

  • Describe how to ideate and problem-solve around a specific challenge.
  • Articulate how to pitch a solution.
  • Explain how a hackathon can act as a problem-solving catalyst.

Pricing

$300 per team of 5

Registration is first come, first served, limited to eight teams of five members each.
