After nearly two years of work, the Texas Nurses Association has moved to a new location:

4807 Spicewood Springs Rd.
Bldg 3, Suite 100
Austin, TX 78759

The new building is an investment for the association, an idea that started to take shape in July 2016. After looking at just a few buildings, our team found the perfect space in the rolling hills of west Austin. The Board of Directors authorized the purchase in July 2017, and construction started in January. Just a few months later, the entire team is now settled into their new home.

“It felt like it was made for us,” TNA Executive Director Cindy D. Zolnierek remembered. “The first space we saw was too big. The second one would have been a tight fit. But this one had the right conference rooms, the right offices. And it was surrounded by nature.”

New break room

and both group and individual bar seating.
In looking for the location, TNA leadership made sure to find a location convenient to staff. From the beginning, everyone was excited about the prospect of having a permanent home.

“When we started thinking about the purchase,” Cindy said, “The Board of Directors really appreciated the significance of the decision. We all made sure to do our due diligence. The board was cautious; they wanted to protect the organization but also to make that bold leap forward. In addition to the investment opportunity, they had faith in the staff: Julia Menegay, Chandra Hinds and Andy Cates each worked to secure the building and develop the space. And the seller was great to work with. The whole process was very smooth.”

with the opportunity for collaboration.

The new space maximizes collaboration while providing privacy. Staff learned from the previous TNA offices, which went through two layouts, transitioning from one that was mostly an open space to a more mixed and functional environment of cubicles and offices. The current building maintains this mix, making sure staff can both interact with each other and have space to themselves to concentrate.

TNA colors are incorporated into every office, and new ergonomic furniture, such as sit-stand desks, provides a healthy work environment for our staff. Our training rooms are equipped with the latest technology for easier presentations and workshops. And staff have a welcoming breakroom and wellness room with beautiful green views.

The design process started by asking staff to submit ideas and images they liked, as well as looking at how people used their current space and office furniture. In general, staff wanted color, a brighter space and more natural light. Working with architectural firm Noack Little, furniture planner SKG and a trusted contractor, TNA leadership took around two months to plan every detail.

And TNA staff were ready to move.

“I think this space has a good energy now,” Cindy said. “Everyone was excited about having our own home.”

TNA offices take up the first floor of the building and the second floor is ready to be leased. The revenue from the lease combined with the sub-lease of the old space is expected to offset the cost of the purchase. And, ultimately, the purchase was made with the future of TNA in mind.

“You hope to leave an organization better than when you came in,” Cindy said. “We wanted to ensure that TNA has a home that offers stability, a presence in Austin, and a healthy and joyful work environment.
