               Serena BumpusSerena Bumpus, DNP, RN, NEA-BC is the CEO of the Texas Nurses Association. Bumpus is a long-time member of TNA and has held several volunteer roles as well as serving as the Director of Nursing Practice & Professional Development from 2020-2021. Her career spans more than 20 years, with the last 12 in nursing leadership positions. Most recently she served as Senior Regional Director of Clinical Surveillance for Ascension Health. She holds an associate degree in nursing from Austin Community College and bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate in nursing from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. She holds advanced certification as a nurse executive from the American Nurses Association (ANA). As CEO, Bumpus leads the strategic direction of TNA and its Foundation as well as represents the state at the national level with ANA.

               Amy K. McCarthyAmy K. McCarthy, DNP, RNC-MNN, NE-BC, CENP currently serves as the Chief Nursing Officer for Hippocratic AI, focusing on generative AI solutions to improve access to healthcare. An alumna of The George Washington University, she earned her DNP with a focus on Executive Leadership. McCarthy is a champion of transformational and heart-led leadership, aiming to foster innovative and health-centered environments for nurses. Her decade-long experience involves collaborating with state and national leaders in nursing, improve outcomes for the public and employees she serves at the bedside and in leadership. McCarthy currently serves as the President of the Texas Nurses Association. She has notably served as a Director-at-Large on the American Nurses Association Board of Directors, addressing crucial issues around safe staffing, workplace violence, and racial equality in nursing. Her involvement with the National League of Nursing includes contributing to the advisory board of the Accelerating to Practice program, focusing on new graduate integration into the workforce. McCarthy’s roles extend to the Nurses on Boards Coalition, where she was a Texas Action Coalition representative and Co-Chair of the Communications Work Group, overseeing coalition marketing and communication strategies. As the Secretary of the Texas Nurses Association from 2019 to 2021, she was instrumental in integrating younger voices into the organization, fostering ties with the Texas Nursing Students Association, and launching a podcast that highlights nursing innovation and mental health. McCarthy’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Southern Methodist University, and both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Nursing Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington. She holds professional certifications in Executive Nursing and Maternal-Newborn Nursing.

               Kit BredimusKit Bredimus, DNP, RN, CNML, NE-BC, CENP, NEA-BC, FACHE, FAONL, FNAP, is the Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President, Nursing at Midland Memorial Hospital. Bredimus holds a BSN from the University of Texas Medical Branch and received his MSN and DNP from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Bredimus is a nationally recognized nurse leader through his various presentations, podcasts, and publications. Bredimus was named a 2020 “Newsmaker of the year” and a Texas Nurses Association’s 2020 “Year of the Nurse” Award winner for his advocacy work during the COVID pandemic. Nationally, Kit is a Modern Healthcare Rising Star in Nursing Award winner, the American Organization for Nursing Leadership Early Careerist Award winner, and a finalist for Nursing Management’s Hader Visionary Nurse Leader Award. Becker’s Hospital Review named Bredimus a Rising star in 2022 and CNO to Know in 2023. Kit is a credentialed Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, American Organization for Nursing Leadership, and the National Academies of Practice in Nursing, and holds multiple board certifications in nursing management and executive leadership.

              Monica Jimenez
 Board certified registered Nurse at Houston Methodist Hospital, with 19 years of bedside experience in the Texas Medical Center. Associate degree in nursing received from San Jacinto College, Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas at Arlington. Recognized with the Daisy Award and Outstanding Nurse Clinician Award for her clinical expertise and extraordinary compassionate care. Active in various community organizations supporting local initiatives. Her leadership experience includes board service and volunteerism with well established Houston based nonprofits. Member of the TNA Government Affairs Committee since 2021.

                                       Richard Pullen, EdD, MSN-ed, RN, CNE, CNE-cl, ANEF, FAANRichard Pullen, EdD, MSN-ed, RN, CNE, CNE-cl, ANEF, FAAN is a professor and RN to BSN Program Director at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing in Lubbock, Texas. He has been in academia for 32 years as a faculty member and leadership roles at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and Amarillo College. He was in practice 15 years before entering academia. His areas of expertise are teaching, leadership, medical surgical, mental health, oncology, autoimmune, and chronic disease management. He is a long-serving editorial board member in 3 journals, each with a unique and distinct readership. He has 160 peer-reviewed publications, which is a way to teach beyond the walls of the academic setting. He was the sole recipient of the Mary Adelaide Nutting Outstanding Teaching Award by the NLN. He was one of 10 community college and university professors in Texas who received the prestigious Piper Professor Award or outstanding teaching. He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing. He is also a Fellow in the Academy of Nursing Education. Teaching, mentorship, and service are important to Dr. Pullen to ensure safe person-centered care and influence policymaking.

                                       Edtrina MossDr. Edtrina Moss turns frontline insight into policy and practice reform. As Vice President of the Texas Nurses Foundation (TNF) and Board Member-at-Large for the Texas Nurses Association (TNA), she secures philanthropic investments, promotes workforce well-being, and amplifies frontline stories that advance and advocate for full-practice authority, safe-staffing, and practice legislation. Nationally, the ANCC taps her expertise for the Nurse Executive Content Expert Panel, the 2026 Ambulatory Care Nursing exam overhaul, and the Commission on Pathway to Excellence (2026-2029), ensuring standards stay true to everyday ambulatory practice. A committed steward of professional knowledge, Dr. Moss co-edited the 10th edition of AAACN’s Scope and Standards and is co-editor of the forthcoming 5th edition of the Core Curriculum for Ambulatory Care Nursing. Through AAACN’s Research Committee and Nursing Excellence Task Force, she champions EBP, research, and practical tools nurses can use at the point of care. Her leadership appears in Nursing Economic$, Nursing Forum, OJIN, Texas Nursing Magazine, and TNA’s policy platforms. Her impact has been recognized with the Bronze Medalist Award, Good Samaritan Foundation Excellence in Nursing (2025) and selection as one of TNA District 9’s “Twenty Outstanding Nurses” (2019). In her role as Senior Performance Improvement Specialist, Dr. Moss applies Lean Six Sigma and CPHQ expertise to improve quality, patient safety, and operational reliability. A committed mentor and educator, she has served as adjunct faculty for the University of Houston College of Nursing and as a graduate evaluator for Western Governors University. Beginning her career as an LVN, a first-generation graduate turned PhD-Executive MBA, she champions inclusive pathways so every nurse can lead, and every patient receives equitable, evidence-based care.

                                       Mary VitulloMary Vitullo, MBA, MSN, RN, CV-BC, PCCN, NE-BC, CLSSBB, has spent most of her years in nursing focused on the cardiac specialty. Mary works as a Nurse Manager of the Medical Telemetry Unit at Texas Health Plano. She is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Nursing Practice in Healthcare Leadership, Systems, and Policy at Yale University. Mary also currently serves as Chair of the Professional Policy Committee of the American Nurses Association. As Director at Large, Mary provided testimony to the House Public Health Committee in the Texas Legislature in 2023 and educated the committee on the data, research, and policy dimensions of workplace violence. Her testimony was critical to advancing the bill through the House Public Health Committee and giving the committee members the information they needed to continue advocating for the bill on the House floor. The workplace violence bill is now Texas law, providing protections for nurses across the state of Texas. Mary is very passionate about the advocacy of nurses and nurses being in the seats of change. Mary hopes to continue her work in workplace violence prevention in her DNP program with an emphasis on the use of technology.

                                       Patricia “Pat” Francis-JohnsonPatricia Francis-Johnson, DNP, RN, CDP, is the Assistant Dean of Culture and Climate and Assistant Professor for the Non-Traditional Undergraduate Programs (RN-BSN and Accelerated BSN) at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) in Lubbock, Texas. She is skilled in clinical teaching, traditional and accelerated online education, quality improvement, patient safety, and interprofessional teamwork. She is a TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer conducting training classes for students, faculty, and staff. She received her DNP with a concentration in Executive Leadership from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Francis-Johnson served as the inaugural Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the School of Nursing to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion among faculty, staff, and students until 2023. Francis-Johnson served as a member of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Leadership Network (DEILN), which explored innovative approaches to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion in academic nursing, and is an AACN Diversity Leadership Institute graduate. She participated in developing the AACN Diversity Toolkit. She served on the Texas League for Nursing Board as Director of Strategic Planning from 2019-2021. She also has experience serving on numerous boards and committees in various leadership roles at the school and community levels. She is an active member of District 18 and was the past chair of the TNA Leadership Succession Committee.

                                       Adam RamirezAdam Ramirez, LVN, WCN-C, IV-C, has been an LVN for ten years, after serving as a fire fighter and EMT for 6 years, where he helped train new firefighters in emergency field care and mass casualty care. He began his nursing career in acute care and hospice, has worked in corrections, and as a private duty home health nurse before moving back to acute care as a contract LVN for the federal government. After that he joined the Texas State Guard and was the Training and Operations officer for the Texas Medical Brigade, where he trained Texas Military Department Soldiers on emergency field care, mass casualty incidents, tactical field care, trauma management, emergency field operations and disaster management. During this time, he joined the Licensed Vocational Nurses Association of Texas and became a board member. After honorable discharge from the Texas Military Department, he worked as an urgent care nurse and specialty wound care nurse while also teaching CNA and Medical Assistant classes. He also created and delivered continuing education courses for LVNs. He is currently working in acute care as a Clinical Support Resource Nurse at Methodist Healthcare System in San Antonio, and is a student at Northwest Vista College studying to become a registered nurse. |
