Proposed Bylaws Amendments Results

Proposed Bylaws Amendment #1: Changes in Board composition and qualifications. Amending Article VIII, Section 1, and adding subsections a and b. Adding a Proviso at the end of Article VIII. Rationale: Increases board membership to add a seat and ensure an odd number of directors. Defines seats dedicated to representing early career nurses and direct care nurses, meaning the board would have guaranteed representation of large TNA districts, small TNA districts, early career nurses, direct care nurses, and licensed vocational nurses. Adds proviso to facilitate Board implementation. PASSED

Proposed Bylaws Amendments #2: Defining ANA Leadership Council representation. Adding Article XII, Section 3.Rationale: This revision was requested by ANA as part of our regular bylaws review to ensure representation on the Leadership Council. PASSED

Proposed Bylaws Amendments #3: Establishing procedures for disaffiliation from ANA. Adding Article XII, Section 4.Rationale: This revision was requested by ANA as part of our regular bylaws review to provide a mechanism for disaffiliation from ANA, and sets a high bar for membership voting to disaffiliate. The high threshold protects membership from a significant decision being made by a minority of the membership. PASSED

Proposed Bylaws Amendments #4: Refining membership qualifications to be more inclusive. Amending Article III, Section 2.Rationale: This revision was suggested by ANA as part of our regular bylaws review to provide language regarding membership in the association for nurses in recovery, retired, or without an active license. PASSED
