To make sure that you don't miss any opportunities or event, check that you are getting your Check Up e-newsletter on Tuesdays (check the spam folder or talk to your employer about blocked emails).

The Nurse Talks Empowerment Series is designed to bring more nurses into conversations that can inform TNA’s decision-making processes and policy priorities to ultimately benefit all nurses across the state.

Contribute to Nursing PolicySince the Texas Nurses Association was founded in 1907, one of its primary purposes has been to represent and support all segments of nursing practice by working with the state legislature and stakeholders through its Government Affairs and nursing practice committees and the Policy Council.

Learn more and submit your interest to be considered for our committees.

Looking for a shorter commitment? Apply to be an Issue Advisor below and contribute to policy positions.

Become a nursing policy advocate! Any nurse or student can participate in grassroots activities or attend Nurse Day to advocate directly with lawmakers. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, the resources in our Advocacy Toolkit can help you be strategic and tactical when approaching lawmakers to discuss nursing policy.

While many of the links are specifically for statewide lawmakers, the information can be put to use at the community, county or city level, as well as the national level.

Committee and Microvolunteer Opportunities

TNA's member committees contribute to TNA strategic direction in professional development, awards, bylaws, communications, finances and more! Review committee information.

Microvolunteer opportunities can include contributing to short-term projects such as:

  • Writing articles for publication online or in Texas Nursing
  • Developing CNE courses
  • Providing information to prospective nursing students

The Nurses in Office initiative aims to encourage and support registered nurses running for elected offices, starting locally and growing eventually to state and national levels.

Whether you are running yourself or want to volunteer to help a nurse run, the Nurse Campaign Support Center provides resources and connections.

Learn more about Nurse Day at the Capitol here. Many TNA members cite their experiences at TNA’s Nurse Day events for opening their eyes to the many facets of the nursing profession and inspiring them to get informed about nursing issues and encouraged about the future of nursing in Texas.
