The 87th session of the Texas Legislature may look different than in years past, however, the need for nurses to advocate for Texans and themselves has never been greater. Join the Texas Nurses Association on February 8, 2021, from 1-4:30, to hear more about the issues, identify the opportunities for you to influence health care and nursing in Texas, and develop your personal advocacy message.
Registration is just $45 members, $55 non-members. Our half-day live CNE event includes an overview of the current public health landscape in Texas, the nurse’s role in health policy, the nursing legislative agenda, and a live legislative panel. In addition, registrants automatically get a discounted one-year subscription to TNA’s on-demand CNE portal, The Learning Curve, in order to prepare for the event with our Advocacy for Nurses series.
For new attendees, we have Nursing Advocacy 101, which takes you through the process of policy development and bill making. Experienced attendees can view Advanced Advocacy to learn more about writing policy documents, giving testimony, and influencing the lawmaking process. Through The Learning Curve, you will also have access to all of TNA’s CNE offerings until January 2022. (Already have a Learning Curve subscription? You can register for just $25 members, $35 non-members.)
While Nurse Day at the Capitol usually caps off with a day full of face-to-face visits with individual legislators, in 2021, we are planning virtual meetings throughout the month of February. There will be two regionally established sessions each week starting with Feb. 1 so you can choose the session with the elected legislators in your area.
Many TNA members cite their experiences at TNA’s Nurse Day events for opening their eyes to the many facets of the nursing profession and inspiring them to get informed about nursing issues and encouraged about the future of nursing in Texas.
