Computerized provider order entry, or CPOE, technology has been in place for decades. It helps nurses and physicians with workflow, provides decision support and makes care safer for patients. But why do hospitals still struggle with it? Learn more about benefits and drawbacks to CPOE and how it is counted as a safety measure. See how one hospital increased provider usage to meet CPOE metrics and improve patient safety. PresenterAngela Clark is a certified informatics nurse specialist with 20 years of nursing experience. In addition to informatics, Clark has spent most of her career in critical care and clinical education. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing and her Master of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University College of Nursing. Currently Clark is the director of clinical informatics at HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake and is a member of the American Nursing Informatics Association and the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.
