Presenter

Dawn Webb, MSN, RN, PMH-BC is the Director of Nursing Practice and Professional Development with the Texas Nurses Association. Webb is Board Certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Registered Nurse and has spent her entire career working in the mental health field. She is currently transitioning from her role as Program Director for the Texas Peer Assistance Program for Nurses. In her time as TPAPN Program Director, Webb has made significant changes in the quality of TPAPN’s programming and implemented changes to turn TPAPN into a valuable resource for the nursing profession. Webb is an experienced leader and served as RN Supervisor and Chair of the Incident Based Nursing Peer Review Committee at Integral Care, overseeing multiple multi-disciplinary teams including outpatient mental health clinics, community outreach teams, respite programs and a homeless shelter for veterans. Webb also worked at Seton Shoal Creek Hospital on the Detox Unit.

Throughout her nursing career, Webb has gained knowledge of the Texas Nursing Practice Act, Texas Board of Nursing position statements, Texas Administrative Codes, Texas Occupations Codes, and applicable regulations to ensure program compliance and support Texas nurses. Most importantly, she has taken a stance on mental health stigma, nursing suicide prevention, and the opioid epidemic, and has incorporated person-centered care and motivational interviewing into her nursing practice with the belief that meaningful communication is the key to human connection.
