Nurses are increasingly exposed to individuals experiencing mental health crises but are often ill-prepared to manage these patients in settings outside of behavioral health, such as inpatient hospitalization, clinics, and classrooms. Implementation of a mental health education program can increase nurse competency, leading to improved outcomes for both patients and healthcare providers. Through this presentation, nurses will learn what frontline nurses need from a mental health education program and gain critical insights for building and implementing a successful program within their organizations. Nurses will also learn how a structured mental health program can be implemented in community settings to help prevent mental health issues reach crisis state.
