Nurse Day is an event hosted by TNA where nurses of all backgrounds come together to advocate for policy that betters the nursing profession. The annual event allows nurses to hear more about nursing issues, identify opportunities to influence healthcare policy, and develop a personal advocacy message. The event begins with a half day devoted to educating attendees on legislation that affects nursing. Kayla Davis, a Research Specialist IV at the Texas Department of State Health Services will be providing an overview of the current public health landscape in Texas, the nursing shortage and the nurse’s role in health policy. For new and returning attendees, Jack Frazee, TNA’s Government Affairs Director, will review nursing policies that the legislature is considering this session and proper legislative etiquette. The following day will be spent at the Texas Capitol as nurses educate their local legislators on nursing issues and advocate for needed policy change. We hope you join us in lifting our voice as a community at Nurse Day. Register here.
