One of TNA’s main functions is to promote and provide for the continuing professional development of nurses. Over the years we have provided numerous educational activities from Leadership Conferences to Policy Summit, Nurse Talks Empowerment Series to
offering live virtual events.
The past year highlighted new ways educational activities could be delivered that offered convenience and flexibility to participants. However, these new virtual delivery methods also left many yearning for the day when they could attend an in-person
event again. In addition, the opportunity to participate in on-demand educational activities became desirable to many.
TNA wants to learn more about your educational needs and how we can support them. To make an informed decision, your feedback is critically important. We invite you to share your needs with us in our 2021 Needs Assessment Survey.
A needs assessment is a process of gathering information from members in order to develop an effective educational program that will meet their needs and address practice gaps or challenges. The best way to obtain this information is through a
learning needs survey.
We want to hear from our members and non-members about their educational needs and preferred method of delivery. Our purpose is to advocate and educate. We cannot effectively do that without your input.
We have seen exponential growth year over year in the number of nurses participating in our educational events, especially in 2020. The increased participation has caused TNA to take a step back and evaluate our educational programs and the delivery of
those programs. This includes how often we provide continuing education, virtual vs. in-person events, and offering live vs. on-demand education.
Our membership represents all segments of nursing practice. From bedside to administration, consulting to advanced practice, and academia to legislation, all specialties are covered – and all practice settings including hospital, public health, higher
education, long-term care, school health and policy. This also means there is a multitude of educational needs across all specialties and practice settings.
Please take a moment to complete the educational needs assessment survey. Your participation in this survey will inform us of ways we can better serve Texas nurses. The survey closes on July 16. Once the responses have been analyzed, the Nursing Professional
Development committee will use the information to plan its activities and offerings for the next year.
We know that hundreds of nurses found great value in the events and on-demand education offered over the last year, and we hope to continue offering up to date, cutting edge, relevant and innovative continuing nursing education. Your feedback in invaluable,
and we appreciate your participation in this needs assessment!
