Carder is a nursing educator and practitioner with a focus in women’s health at UT Health Science Center San Antonio with over 20 years of experience in the field of nursing. Before becoming a women's health nurse practitioner, she gained a varied background
of nursing experience in obstetrics, newborn nursery, trauma and critical care. Other interests include research related to maternal health, opioid use disorder, and in the field of doula care and midwifery. She earned her BSN at the University of
Alabama at Birmingham in 2000, her MSN at University of South Alabama in 2017 and her DNP at the University of Texas at Austin in 2020.

The Nurse Talks Empowerment Series is designed to bring diverse groups of nurses together to engage in thoughtful conversation about important topics. Nurse Talks sessions are live webinars viewed with other nurses. After the short presentation and Q&A session, attendees will have a brief discussion with other nurses in attendance in a breakout room.
