About the Event During TNA's Nurse Day at the Capitol, nurses from diverse backgrounds unite to advocate for policies that enhance the nursing profession. The event provides a platform for nurses to delve into nursing-related matters, pinpoint avenues for impacting healthcare policy, and craft personalized advocacy messages. We are excited to continue with this biennial event and can’t wait for hundreds of nurses to come together to amplify their voices! The Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) segment of the event offers insights into the current public health landscape in Texas, the nurse's role in shaping health policy, the nursing legislative agenda, and features a legislative panel. Following this, nurses engage in a series of meetings with individual legislators at the Texas Capitol, where they educate lawmakers on nursing issues and push for necessary policy reforms. Register today! Hotel & Travel For out-of-town visitors, we recommend booking a room at our special event rate. To ease congestion, we encourage attendees to carpool or rideshare, as parking will be limited with an expected turnout of nearly 1,000 nurses. If you're local to Austin, consider using Uber or a taxi service. For those driving, valet parking is available at the hotel, but spaces are limited. Explore nearby parking options by clicking here. Students We are excited to welcome students from across the state to this significant event, offering a firsthand experience in advocacy and legislative involvement. Due to the event's capacity constraints and its popularity, we must limit the number of unlicensed students who can attend. Admittance will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis and will depend on the size of the school: - Schools with fewer than 199 students can bring up to five unlicensed student attendees.
- Schools with 200 or more students can bring up to ten unlicensed student attendees.
It's important to note that unlicensed students must be in one of their final two semesters and accompanied by a faculty member. For schools wishing to purchase multiple tickets without finalizing attendee details, please proceed with your purchase, and you can assign attendees later. NLAC For Nurse Day at the Capitol, we invite members from organizations collaborating with the Nursing Legislative Agenda Coalition (NLAC) to join us for this crucial day of advocacy! NLAC's member organizations have consistently advocated for policies benefiting nurses, the profession, and patient safety and outcomes. To delve into the coalition's efforts, click here.
