In module two, we will review the verbal and behavioral warning signs for suicide. It will emphasize warning signs that may go undetected due to their oblique nature. Through observation and active listening, we will move into action with the hope of earlier intervention. Several valid risk and screening tools for suicidality will be introduced. Exploration of our own bias or discomfort regarding the topic of suicidality and dynamics that occur during risk and screening assessment and how to address it. Particularly, in regard to nurse colleague suicidality. We will view a demonstration of a nurse-to-nurse conversation when a warning sign has been noted to help address any immediate concerns in the workplace. Resources for both the general population and the nursing population will be shared.
