Call for Abstract Reviewers

The Texas Nurses Association is seeking volunteer abstract reviewers to assist in the peer review of submissions for the 2027 Annual Conference, "Navigating New Horizons in Nursing."

Volunteer reviewers play an important role in helping TNA identify relevant, high-quality educational content that reflects the diverse needs, experiences, and opportunities of nurses across the profession. Abstracts will address areas such as:

  • Clinical Excellence & Innovation
  • Healthy Work Environments & Ethical Practice
  • Leadership, Advocacy & Professional Influence
  • Workforce Growth & Development
  • Journey to Practice

What Reviewers Will Do
Selected reviewers will:

  • Complete a brief reviewer training before beginning their assigned reviews.
  • Independently review and score a small group of blinded abstracts using TNA's standardized review criteria.
  • Participate as part of a reviewer team to support a fair and consistent review process.
  • Provide thoughtful, objective feedback that contributes to the selection of the 2027 conference educational program.

Who Should Volunteer?

We welcome TNA members with expertise or experience relevant to one or more conference tracks. Previous abstract-review experience is helpful but not required. Training and reviewer resources will be provided.

Reviewers should be able to evaluate submissions objectively, maintain confidentiality, disclose potential conflicts of interest, and complete assigned reviews within the established review period.

Why Volunteer?

Serving as an abstract reviewer is an opportunity to:

  • Contribute to the quality of nursing professional development.
  • Help shape the educational program for nurses across Texas.
  • Gain experience with a structured peer-review process.
  • Explore emerging topics, innovations, and priorities across nursing.
  • Participate in a meaningful professional service opportunity.
