Announcement of the 2026 Outstanding 25 Texas Nurses

The annual award recognizes the contributions of nurses who “create a culture of care, support healing, health, and wellness, innovate improvements, and contribute to their communities.” Nominations can be made by their peers, community members, friends, family or employers. 2026 Class of Outstanding 25 Texas Nurses 

 

Noon to 1 pm: Saving Lives Series Module 3: Dispelling the Myths, Discovering Evidence-Based and Best Practice Interventions/Treatments

MAY 7

6 pm to 7:30 pm: District Watch Party: Safe Practice Under Pressure

This session provides practical strategies to communicate concerns, escalate issues appropriately, and uphold professional accountability in complex care environments. Participants will explore common barriers to speaking up, learn structured communication techniques, and apply tools they can immediately use to strengthen patient safety, teamwork, and confidence in their professional role. Join virtually or attend a local district watch party to connect, learn, and celebrate Nurses Week with colleagues in your area. REGISTER




MAY 8 - National Student Nurses Day

Noon to 1 pm: Your First Year and Beyond: What Every Nurse Needs to Know 

Transitioning from nursing school to practice—and continuing to grow throughout a nursing career—requires more than clinical knowledge. This session explores practical, real-world strategies that support success across all stages of nursing practice. Participants will examine common challenges faced by students and early career nurses, including communication, prioritization, and professional confidence, while also reflecting on strategies that support ongoing growth and mentorship in experienced nurses. Through discussion and practical examples, learners will gain tools to navigate transitions, strengthen professional practice, and support the next generation of nurses. REGISTER

6 pm to 7:30 pm: Nurse Talks: The Pilot Paradox: Why Nurse Innovation Fails to Reach the Bedside

Why do nurse-led innovations fail to gain traction within healthcare systems? The next Nurse Talks, on May 14 at 6 p.m. CT, introduces the pilot paradox and examines how gaps in measuring nurse experience contribute to missed insights and stalled implementation. Attendees will examine the limitations of current measurement approaches, explore the role of psychologically safe environments in eliciting authentic feedback, and consider how implementation pathways can better support nurse-led innovation within their organizations.
