This Nurse Talks focuses on the importance of designing and implementing innovative staffing strategies to improve nurse recruitment and retention efforts. Many healthcare facilities face similar challenges regarding hiring and staffing practices. Expanding hiring practices to include newly licensed vocational nurses and internationally-educated nurses creates a diverse work environment with greater opportunities to improve staffing ratios.


This talk highlights how the creation of a new clinical support nurse role can increase recruitment strategies while simultaneously enhancing nurse support at the bedside. Although traditional onboarding/orientation/fellowship models serve as the foundation for nurses, many still require ongoing one on one clinical support. The implementation of a clinical support nurse role can meet the diverse needs of new and experienced nurses.
